Members of the Woodworkers of Central New York demonstrated at the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum on June 14th during their annual Boat Float & Folk Festival. This is our first time demonstrating at this Museum. This year's event coincides with a variety of events along the Erie Canal as it celebrates 200 years in operation. Some photos of the site are below for reference.
About the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum is to interpret the broad and deep history of Chittenango Landing: the land, air, water and people by engaging the public through educational and recreational programming. While preserving and interpreting the recreated 19th century dry dock complex that served the Erie Canal from 1855 until 1917, the museum fosters connections between the past and present in the Old Erie Canal State Historic Park. Located on the Enlarged Erie Canal at 717 Lakeport Road, Chittenango, the site includes three dry dock bays (deep, middle, and shallow), a reconstructed general store, working blacksmith shop, boat shop, mule stable, and visitors center. Inside the visitors venter is a variety of educational exhibits.
