Red, White & Blue Forever
An 8" turned platter takes on the Patriotic theme with a ring of stars between the red and blue accents. This poplar entry was turned and then colorized using crayons for coloring and wood burning for the stars. The final finish is Osmo. The artist is Charlie LaPrease.
Comments from the voters: Beautiful, spans all seasons, proud to use on any occasion. The RED, WHITE and BLUE along with the STARS embodies what we are as a NATION

A Very Close Second!

Patriotic Bowl
A walnut, cherry, and maple bowl was carefully constructed to present an appropriate background for the M&Ms. The 13 cherry and maple stripes are 5/8" thick. The bowl's final size is 8 1/8" in diameter and 1 7/8" thick. The finish is walnut oil and bees wax. The artist is Ray Smith. Comments from the voters: Neat Idea! Well proportioned piece. Nicely done. |

I Pledge
The Pledge of Allegiance is presented in this scrolled multi-piece 16" x 24" wall hanging. The Pledge is cut from maple plywood and mounted on a flag print. A white pine frame was flamed to highlight the contents. Lacquer is the finish. Artist is Bob Henry. This plaque will be hung in the Irondequoit Library, part of a display highlighting the artists in the community. |

What Does Captain America Use When He Gets Old?
An eagle adorns this maple 36" cane while a flag complements the sassafras 60" walking stick, both of which will assist any hiker! Comments from the voters: Cool :-) Humourous, attractive, fun to use |

American Eagle
An eagle and the word America are pierced onto this wafer thin 4.5" tall by 4" in diameter Bradford pear vessel finished with wipe on poly. Ed Siegel used a public domain image that he modified. Comments from the voters: Nice piece of wood! |

Symbol & Spirit of America!
A 1/2 inch piece of spalted live edge maple hosts this scrolled image of the bald eagle, the national bird of the United States since 1782. Five years later in 1787, the bald eagle was adopted as the United States emblem. It symbolizes the strength and freedom of America! Robert Ward is the artist. Comments from the voters: Love your eagle well done. Very nice. |

Old Glory Platter
Turned sycamore platter embellished with common spray paint using a paint lifting technique using paper towels to provide a mottled effect then a lacquer finish polished to a high glass. Pictures don't show the depth of the shine after 3 hours of polishing. Robert Love, the artist, will continue polishing a few more times till it glows in the dark!
Comments from the voters: Very nice gloss finish. Would love to see it in person!
