Members of a woodworking club generally use wood for their projects. They can purchase wood from one of the local suppliers or from a supplier on the internet. They can receive wood as a gift. They can also pick-up wood from the side of the road. Learning how wood is cut at lumber mills can be very fruitful in their understanding of wood. Our club is fortunate to have a member with a portable sawmill who is willing to spend a day, every couple of years, sawing logs to teach members how wood is cut as well as to generate wood for projects. We thank John Anderson of Lake Effect Farms south of Watertown for bringing his Woodmizer to Eight Acres for our 2019 event. Below are photos from our August 2019 and July 2019 events.
