Members of the woodworking club donated toys to help families who are unable to provide gifts to their children - ages 1-14, both boys and girls - during the holidays. We've donated for at least twenty-nine (29) years. Members either make the toys or donate toys they purchase. Members also donate wrapping materials. The elves at St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse wrap the toys and organize their delivery. Normally, the toys and wrapping materials are donated during the annual holiday event on the first Wednesday in December. For 2019, that event was on December 4th and held at the Doubletree Hotel, 6301 NY 298, East Syracuse. Due to Covid-19 for 2020, all "toys" were dropped off at the "toy store" at the Eight Acres Event Center. One bulk delivery was made on Tuesday, December 15th to new location of the Food Bank at St. Rose. As usual, Sister and her elves were overwhelmed by the generosity of our members. Again, due to Covid-19 and church renovations, in 2021 the club did a bulk delivery on Monday, December 13th after receiving gifts at either our holiday party on December 5th or through drop offs to the "toy store" at Eight Acres. One family donated 48 toys. Toys are not just what we all consider toys, but also include jewelry boxes, writing items, blankets, knitted hats & gloves, etc. Below you can see photos of toys donated in 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, and in several of past years.
