During August online meetings, members displayed a variety of projects in the Show & Tell portion of the meetings.  Below are most of the pieces shown during the meetings! 

Ted Kleege's wife recently purchased some oval plates.  She wanted to hang them but with frames.  Ted built the frames learning that there is a unique set of problems when creating the oval shape for a frame.

Don Vanderveer designed and built this red oak bedside table for his granddaughter.  She will receive it as a birthday gift shortly.   The table is 12" by 18" and stands 30" tall for the new higher beds.  The bowed legs were cut from a pattern Don drew and then cut.  All of the edges were shaped with a cove bit to give them a smaller, lighter look.  He used teak stain to create the color he wanted then applied coats of wipe-on polyurethane to complete the finish.

Elaine Negrotto recently completed this Santa carving while also helping her husband, Ralph, recover from a broken hip and arm.

Larry Prunotto showed a bowl he recently completed as a gift for his massage therapist.  He also talked briefly about his pen polishing tool which will be a featured article in the September 2020 newsletter.

Rod Castle continues to generate more peppermills and other items for his Etsy site — Woodcastle.  

Jim Yonkers showed four different projects over the two meetings.  Three were large vessels.  One a 14" diameter Walnut bowl.  Another a 17" spalted Pecan  bowl.  And, the last a spalted Maple bowl.  All have a a mineral oil and beeswax finish.  The last item is a carved articulated puppet made from scrap pine, headset wire, brass pins, and googly eyes.  Jim's sense of humor really shows in the puppet!

Mike Vecellio is having a ball creating a variety of bowls and other items using the Wedgie sled he created using the  instructions found HERE.  Mike's latest is this maple and walnut bowl which he finished with Odie's Oil. 

Ed Siegel recently turned this natural edged pear vessel from a piece of wood that was a triple crotch of the tree.

Robert Love is watching remote demonstrations by various turners when his work schedule allows.  Recently, he watched the triangle box demo by Cindy Drozda.  Following the demo, Robert headed to the shop and produced this box out of a piece of ash.
