Woodworkers of Central New York, Inc.
Mission
The mission of the Woodworkers of Central New York is both social and educational and includes activities and programs like advancing the art and craft of woodworking in all its forms and genres; sharing knowledge, skill, and experience regarding woodworking; exploring new methods and techniques for advancing woodworking as an art and craft; and contributing to the general community through educational programs and community services.
Committees of the Corporation / aka Special Interest Groups
The Corporation is made up of members who may participate in any or all of the Committees of the Corporation. The term Committees of the Corporation is used because we are incorporated under the Not-for-Profit laws of New York State. Elsewhere on this website, the Committees are called Special Interest Groups. The current Committees are:
- Woodworkers - All disciplines and genres of woodworking are celebrated and welcomed at meetings and events held by this Committee
- Turners - Attendees focus on woodturning as their discipline/genre including spindle work, bowl work, subtopics such as segmentation, etc.
- Carvers - Attendees focus on wood carving as their discipline/genre including whittling, relief carving, chip carving, etc.
- Scrollers - Attendees focus on scrolling as their discipline/genre; included are traditional fretwork, intarsia, segmentation, compound cutting, relief cutting, etc.
Membership Categories
- Individual membership is open to anyone 18 years of age or older.
- Family membership is open to adults 18 years of age or older in an immediate family, living at the same address and may include children who wish to be Junior members.
- Junior membership is open to anyone from age 8 to 17 years of age, under the sponsorship and accompaniment of a legal guardian, who must be a Woodworkers of Central New York member.
- Honorary membership is given by the Board of Directors based on a person's long-term contribution to woodworking in Central New York.

Corporation Organization
The Woodworkers of Central New York is managed by a Board of Directors that consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Chairs of the Committees, and At-Large Board Members. The Board is elected at the annual meeting held in December of each year.
In addition to the Board, there is also three standing committees - the Financial Oversight, the Nominating, and the Charitable Giving. Ad Hoc Committees are formed as needed and currently include ones for Web & Social Media, the New York State Fair, and the Video. Additional committees will be formed as needed. Members are encouraged to participate on the committees.

Critical Human Resources Policies
The Board of the Woodworkers of Central New York adopted the following two human resource-related policies in June 2018. You are encouraged to read both policies and if you feel that you have been discrimination against or harassed in any way, please use these policies for guidance in addressing the issue.
